A place where you can breathe deeply, de-stress and rejuvenate your body and mind. Get healthier, calmer and more resilient.

In our studio you can practice functional movement, mobility and strength training, have chronic pain coaching and learn yoga and meditation - growing stronger and more flexible physically and mentally.

In our garden spa, experience the healing warmth of a traditional Finnish sauna, energy boosting cold plunge and relaxation around the fire pit.

You can also work with me online for personalised health and movement coaching, yoga and meditation.

    Sauna & bathe

    Our traditional Finnish sauna is a cocooning, warming space to ease aches and pains, detoxify and improve heart health and immunity.

    The sauna is one place you can truly switch off from tech, noise and being constantly busy.

    We hand built our cold plunge (also known as an ice bath) from a huge brandy container.

    Cold water immersion is a super effective way to increase your energy, mood and metabolism.

    A quick dip enhances all the positive effects of the heat and gives you a natural high as you release endorphins and feel fully alive and present.

    You might be surprised at how much you love it, even if you think it’s not for you.

    Yoga & meditation

    Practicing yoga and learning simple breathing, movement and meditation techniques to help you feel less anxious, sleep easily and deal with stress, are some of the best things you can do to boost your physical and mental health.

    Inside our Japanese inspired studio it’s a little like being sheltered by the forest as the light filters in through the trees. It’s a special space to spend time in and instantly makes you feel calm.

    Expect to feel a sense of peace and quiet from a busy mind, stronger and more flexible in your body.

    1:1 coaching

    I specialise in helping you embrace a life of movement, confidence and purpose, continuing to do everything you enjoy.

    You can be strong at any age, and it is never too late to increase resilience and mobility or have a deep sense of calm and agency in all you do.

    I integrate elements of functional movement, yoga, breath work, strength training and mindfulness so you grow stronger, enjoy moving, embrace rest and stillness and drastically improve your physical and mental health.

    I help you to learn how to listen to and understand your body - to become more ‘embodied’. It then becomes a wise friend rather than an enemy to be battled against, and you can find a real sense of peace and belonging in your life.

Hi, I’m Alice…

I’m the woman behind Songbird Sanctuary and the one who’ll be welcoming you for 1:1coaching, a yoga class, sauna session, day retreat or online teaching.

I’ve intentionally created a magical wellness space in which you can’t help but feel more peace, joy, confidence, strength and balance.

I believe our best health is achieved holistically, embracing the total interconnectedness of the body and the mind.

On a physical level, through 1:1 coaching and yoga, I can work with you to increase your mobility and enjoyment of moving your body with control and ease. You’ll learn to widen your movement options so you feel capable, strong and energised, returning flexibility to parts of your body where perhaps you’ve felt a gradual stiffening, weakening or fear of movement due to injury, pain or lack of use.

Using a range of techniques, together we can work on improving persistent pain and other chronic symptoms that are impacting your mental and physical health.

You’ll also have access to the powerful benefits of the heat and the cold through sauna and plunge, helping reduce pain and inflammation, boost metabolism and heart health and improve immune function. The sauna is also the perfect place to escape from all the noise in the outside world and give yourself the space to properly connect with yourself or others.

And, in this special, peaceful setting you can experience the healing power of supercharged, intentional, resting and resetting either relaxing outside amongst the birdsong, bathing or enjoying a cosy guided sleep meditation in the studio.

    I’ve recently had some cold contrast therapy sessions with Alice at the wonderful Songbird Sanctuary and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Alice is a gentle, encouraging and knowledgeable teacher who helped me through the cold plunge element with her calm and assured guidance, especially around the breathwork (the breathing exercises really help!). I always come away from Alice’s sessions feeling energised and positive. It’s in a beautiful setting too - the covered hot tub and cold plunge are surrounded by trees and wildlife, so it feels like you’re miles away from anywhere, yet it’s just a few miles from the centre of Leeds, close to Roundhay Park.
