Facilities & accessibility
What facilities do you offer?
We’ve hand-built our garden sanctuary from scratch, doing all the landscaping, decking and yoga studio building ourselves. Our traditional sauna has been bespoke made for us. This project is a true labour of love. All our facilities are outside.
We currently offer:
6 person Finnish sauna
2 cold plunge
Outdoor cold shower (this is not private)
Relaxation areas
Yoga Studio
Changing room
Fresh water (but best to also bring your own bottle)
Please bring your own large towel for drying off.
What vibe can I expect?
Our aim is make Songbird Sanctuary a tranquil, relaxing space that you can step into and forget everyday life for a time. While we can’t control the ambient noise from our neighbourhood, we enjoy the cocooning effect of the surrounding trees, the birdsong, resident wildlife and the feeling of almost being in the countryside despite being so close to Oakwood parade. People always comment on how it feels unexpectedly peaceful.
Songbird is one place you can switch off your phone and enjoy a quiet conversation or some moments of solitude in nature.
Is there anyone that hot & cold therapy is NOT suitable for?
You must not use the sauna if you:
suffer from high or low blood pressure or any heart or circulatory disorder or suffer from epilepsy or diabetes;
are pregnant; or
are prone to dizziness or fainting.
are under 18
If you have any underlying health problems, please seek advice from your doctor before booking. Listen to your body, take lots of breaks, and keep hydrated.
You will need to sign our waiver form before arriving for your session. Please bring it along with you.
Is Songbird Sanctuary wheelchair accessible?
We have some level changes with steps and gravel in the Sanctuary space. Please contact us for more detailed information if you are considering visiting.
What will happen when I arrive?
Please enter down the gravel path to the right hand side of the house.
Turn left and come all the way along the decking until you reach the Sanctuary space.
You’ll be greeted by Alice, shown where everything is and given an explanation of the best way to use the hot and cold therapies.
You can hang up any coats and towels in the indoor changing room, pop on your sliders and start your session. We suggest arriving in your swimsuit for less faff and more time relaxing.
